Marssonina leaf spot

Distribution

Damage, symptoms and biology

Diffuse orange-brown spots, 2-5 mm diameter, coalesce into vein-limited blotches.

Small spots scattered on the host are of little consequence, but a serious infection can cause severe, premature defoliation. Repeated defoliation causes weakening and dieback of poplars.

Other information

Drepanopeziza populorum is the sexual stage (teleomorph) of Marssonina populi.
